Final Thoughts Survey
And finally, a few words on the Wordles.
The Wordles that are linked on each page came from reading the book a number of years ago with a group of about 12 students. After reading each chapter, students were asked to give 5 words that stuck out in their memories for that chapter. Students were told to choose words that would help them remember the events of that chapter. Phrases could be used (e.g. Lipless Wonder) but words used would still count individually. After choosing words, here's what we did:
- All words for each chapter were entered into a Wordle for that chapter. (Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, etc.)
- Chosen words for each subsequent chapter were added to chosen words from all previous chapters to create Wordles for the entire book up to that point. (Chapter 1-2, Chapter 1-3, Chapter 1-4, Chapter 1-5, etc.)
Items that were very important for one chapter (e.g. Lipless Wonder, LJ Jones, gloves, flamethrower) appeared quite large for that chapter. As more chapters were added, however, only words that were considered important in multiple chapters appeared larger (e.g. Byron, Kenny, Brown Bomber, Birmingham, Wool Pooh.)
